The Journey of Peace of Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba Mbacke

There are fabulous leaders around the world who left their marks of greatness in the history book that most of the historians never want you to know about, most of the writers never put down their names to a paper, most of the speakers never mention them. Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba Mbacke is one of them. Whenever the mainstream media is celebrating the peacemakers, heroes who led a peaceful resistance against their opponents as Gandhi or King, they always forget the name of Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba who had led a peaceful resistance against the French colonizers years before anyone, even those two great leaders I had named. But being a writer that no one read, would not stop me from telling the world about the man. His ability to endure pain is unbelievable, his power to forgive injustice done to him is unseeable, his spiritual power is untouchable. The French colonizers exiled him to Gabon almost eight years, separated him from his family, followers, even tried to murder him based on false accusations. His enemies made up around him just to destroy him, though, all their plans were blown out of the water and he beat them all, one by one. This book is the first book of my (Cheikh Lo) projects that I named "Light up the Midnight," which is an ongoing series of books covering thematically the life of Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba, his doctrine and his heritage to show the world that Islam is not terrorism.

Light Up the Midnight

We all are angels what makes us different is ambition. An individual without ambitions is like a bird without wings. Nonetheless, courageousness is the nutrient or energy that is assisting us to grow, flying freely with strength and wellness. Fearlessness is the rope we must climb to get out in the wild cave we are, one full of masked people, who are employing "US" to survive and be happy in their horrible, isolated world. Do not just dream of touching the stars, but know the sun supplying light to the universe. Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba Mbacke is a shining light; from an unthinkable light, walking through a powering light with an unconquerable light to an everlasting light; producing rising lights to light up the dark midnight.

Limamou Laye, an Islamic leader from present-day Senegal, has proclaimed himself the reincarnation of Muhammad, with his son later proclaiming himself to be a reincarnation of Jesus Christ. Limamou Laye established a tariqa, or Sufi organization, based upon his claims and the miracles attributed to him. This study analyzes Limamou Laye's goals for his community, his theology; as well as the various elements - both local and global - that created him and helped him to emerge as a religious leader of significance. This book also explores how the growth of Islamic communities in Senegambia stems from an evolving conflict between the traditional governments and the emerging Islamic communities. Douglas H. Thomas demonstrates that Sufism was the obvious vehicle for the growth of Islam among West Africans, striking a chord with indigenous cultures through an engagement with the spirit world which pre-Islamic Senegambian religions were primarily concerned with.
